The SomaFlow™ Journey
There comes a point when collecting more exercises is no longer enough.
Every movement professional reaches it eventually.
You know hundreds of exercises.
You’ve completed courses.
Collected certifications.
Filled folders with notes.
Yet something still feels missing.
Not knowledge.
Understanding.
Not another sequence.
A way to create your own.
SomaFlow was created for that moment.
Every SomaFlow Journey Begins Here
Understanding comes before embodiment.
Whether you’re here to better understand your own body or you’re beginning the professional SomaFlow training pathway, SomaFlow Foundations™ is where every journey begins.
SomaFlow Foundations™
This self-paced online course introduces the philosophy, language and observational principles that underpin the entire SomaFlow Method.
For some people, Foundations is a complete learning experience in its own right.
For others, it becomes the first step in the SomaFlow professional training pathway.
As the online prerequisite for the SomaFlow Method Orientation™, it allows you to arrive already fluent in the language, so your in-person training can focus on movement, observation and embodied experience rather than introductory theory.
A self-paced online introduction to the philosophy, language and observational framework of SomaFlow™. Discover a new way of understanding movement through 44 beautifully designed lessons, diagrams and exclusive founder reflections.

The SomaFlow Training Pathway
Step One
SomaFlow Foundations
Online • Self-paced • Approximately 6–8 hours
The philosophy, language and observational lenses of the SomaFlow Method.
Learn how to observe movement differently before stepping into the practical training.
44 guided lessons
Downloadable diagrams
Founder audio reflections
Lifetime access
This course is also the required online prerequisite for the SomaFlow Method Orientation™.
Step Two
SomaFlow Method Orientation
Two days • In person
Bring the language into your own body through movement, observation and discussion.
Over two immersive days, you’ll experience the organisational principles you’ve already explored in Foundations™ through guided movement, partner observation and practical application.
You’ll learn the 22 Core Expressions and 5 Core Sequences—the founder’s poetry—and discover how the language of SomaFlow becomes something you can feel, observe and teach.
By the end of the Orientation, you will:
Experience the Eight Arcs within your own body.
Learn the 22 Core Expressions and 5 Core Sequences.
Develop your eye for observing movement in others.
Explore the language through movement, discussion and partner observation.
Leave ready to begin teaching SomaFlow using the founder’s language.
The SomaFlow Method Orientation™ is a complete learning experience in its own right.
Many participants attend simply to deepen their understanding of movement.
Others continue into the Practitioner Training™.
Both pathways are equally valued.
Step Three
SomaFlow Practitioner Training
Nine months • Mentored apprenticeship
This is where understanding becomes authorship.
Over nine months, you’ll move beyond learning the SomaFlow language and begin creating with it.
You’ll learn to compose classes, develop your own teaching voice and observe movement through increasingly refined organisational principles. Rather than following someone else’s choreography, you’ll learn to create coherent movement conversations that reflect your own understanding while remaining grounded in the SomaFlow Method.
Throughout the training you’ll receive mentorship, practical teaching experience and ongoing feedback as your confidence and perception continue to evolve.
By the end of the Practitioner Training, you will:
Create your own SomaFlow classes with confidence.
Teach using organisational principles rather than memorised choreography.
Observe movement with increasing clarity and precision.
Adapt the language to different bodies, capacities and learning styles.
Graduate as a certified SomaFlow Practitioner, ready to begin teaching professionally.
Foundations teaches the language. Orientation brings it into your body. Practitioner teaches you to create with it.
Step Three
SomaFlow Trainer
By invitation
Not every practitioner becomes a trainer.
The SomaFlow Trainer pathway is for practitioners who demonstrate not only technical understanding, but the capacity to mentor, guide and preserve the integrity of the method as it continues to evolve.
Rather than learning more content, you’ll learn how to develop others.
You’ll facilitate Orientation weekends, mentor future practitioners and help steward the continued growth of the SomaFlow community.
A SomaFlow Trainer doesn’t simply teach the method.
They help shape its future.
Foundations changes how you see. Orientation brings the language into your body. Practitioner teaches you to create with it. Trainer teaches you to develop others.
Where Will You Begin?
Every SomaFlow journey begins with SomaFlow Foundations™
Whether you’re here for your own understanding or because you hope to teach one day, Foundations is where the language begins.
From there, the pathway unfolds one step at a time.
Voices from the SomaFlow Community
Who Becomes a SomaFlow Practitioner?
A SomaFlow practitioner is not defined by the number of exercises they know.
They are defined by the way they see.
They understand that movement is not something to be controlled, corrected or imposed.
It is something to be observed, understood and organised.
They know that every movement tells a story.
Every adaptation has a purpose.
Every body is responding to the conditions it has been given.
Before they ask someone to move differently, they ask why the current movement exists.
Curiosity comes before correction.
Observation comes before intervention.
Understanding comes before instruction.
A SomaFlow practitioner does not seek to become the expert in the room.
They seek to become the most attentive observer.
They recognise that confidence does not come from memorising more exercises.
It comes from understanding the organisational principles that allow coherent movement to emerge.
They do not rely on scripts.
They do not teach by habit.
They create.
Not for the sake of novelty.
But because every person deserves movement that responds to them.
They understand that creativity is cultivated through observation, understanding and experience.
They respect every movement discipline.
They do not see SomaFlow as a replacement for yoga, Pilates, rehabilitation, strength training or dance.
They see it as a language that allows each of these practices to be understood with greater clarity and expressed with greater intention.
They know that movement is never separate from relationship.
The relationship between support and organisation.
Between curiosity and understanding.
Between teacher and practitioner.
Between body and environment.
They understand that great teaching is not measured by how accurately someone repeats a movement.
It is measured by how deeply they begin to understand themselves through movement.
A SomaFlow practitioner does not aim to produce perfect movers.
They cultivate thoughtful ones.
They understand that movement is not a performance.
It is a conversation.
And every conversation begins by listening.
Every SomaFlow practitioner begins as a student.
The SomaFlow Method Orientation is where that journey begins.
What You’ll Experience During the Orientation
SomaFlow Foundations™ is completed before you arrive.
That means the two-day Orientation is free to become something much deeper than an introductory course.
Instead of spending the weekend learning concepts for the first time, you’ll bring them into your own body through movement, observation, discussion and shared experience.
Together we’ll explore:
The organisational principles of the SomaFlow Method.
The Eight Arcs as living movement conversations.
The 22 Core Expressions and 5 Core Sequences.
Capacity-based observation in real bodies.
Practical applications for your own movement and teaching.
You won’t spend two days memorising information.
You’ll spend two days experiencing it..

WHO IS THE METHOD ORIENTATION TRAINING FOR?
-
The SomaFlow Method Orientation is designed for movement professionals who want to move beyond memorising exercises and develop a deeper understanding of the organisational principles that underpin human movement.
Participants come from a wide range of movement backgrounds including Pilates, yoga, strength and conditioning, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, personal training and dance. Others simply have a deep curiosity about movement and want to understand why it works the way it does.
You don’t need to change the work you already do.
SomaFlow doesn’t replace your existing knowledge—it transforms how you understand it.
You’ll leave with a clear understanding of the organisational principles that underpin human movement and a framework you can apply across every movement discipline. Whether you’re teaching, treating, training or moving yourself, SomaFlow changes the way you observe, interpret and communicate movement.
If you’ve ever felt there must be something deeper than learning more exercises, techniques or cues, this training is for you.
-
To get the most from the SomaFlow Method Orientation, participants should have a foundational understanding of human anatomy.
If you’re already a qualified movement professional or health practitioner, you’ll almost certainly meet this prerequisite through your existing education.
If you haven’t yet completed anatomy training, you’re still very welcome to begin your SomaFlow journey. We simply ask that you complete a recognised anatomy course before attending the Orientation.
We recommend the following anatomy courses:
Unite Health – Functional Anatomy (our recommended option)
If you’ve already completed anatomy training through another recognised qualification, there’s no need to complete an additional course.
-
You don’t need years of teaching experience to attend the SomaFlow Method Orientation.
Whether you’re newly qualified, have been teaching for many years, or are preparing to enter the movement profession, the Orientation is designed to meet you where you are.
The most important prerequisite isn’t how long you’ve been teaching—it’s having a foundational understanding of human anatomy, which ensures everyone begins the training with a shared understanding of the body.
From there, SomaFlow introduces a new way of observing, understanding and organising movement.
-
SomaFlow complements rather than replaces existing movement disciplines.
Whether your background is Pilates, yoga, strength training, rehabilitation, dance, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, personal training or another movement practice, SomaFlow provides a shared language that can deepen the way you understand and organise movement.
-
No.
You don’t need to already be working as a movement professional.
The only prerequisite is a foundational understanding of human anatomy, which can be gained through an existing qualification or by completing one of our recommended anatomy courses before attending.
-
The Orientation focuses on understanding movement rather than perfecting teaching techniques.
Many participants find that learning the organisational principles early in their journey gives them a stronger foundation than simply memorising exercises.
THE SOMAFLOW METHOD ORIENTATION
-
By the end of the SomaFlow Method Orientation, you’ll have a practical framework that fundamentally changes how you observe, understand and teach movement.
You’ll be able to teach from organisational principles rather than memorised choreography or isolated exercises.
You’ll understand why a person is moving the way they are, rather than simply trying to correct the shape they’re making.
You’ll be able to recognise when movement is being organised through support and when the body is adapting because support is missing. Instead of asking, “How do I fix this?” you’ll begin asking, “What conditions would allow this movement to organise differently?”
You’ll learn how to create movement experiences that help people understand their own bodies rather than become dependent on your instructions. Instead of creating better followers, you’ll begin creating more capable, autonomous movers.
Most importantly, you’ll learn how to help people rebuild trust in their own bodies.
By helping people recognise support, understand their own capacity and experience the organising principles of movement for themselves, you’ll give them the awareness they need to make confident decisions about their own movement. Rather than asking clients to trust your expertise, you’ll help them develop the confidence to trust themselves.
Whether you teach Pilates, yoga, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, strength training, dance or another movement discipline, you’ll leave with a framework that changes not only what you teach, but how you think about movement itself.
Many participants describe the Orientation not as learning a new method, but as finally understanding movement in a way that makes sense—one that continues to influence every class they teach, every client they work with, and every movement conversation they have.
-
The Orientation isn’t designed to teach you everything about SomaFlow.
It’s designed to give you a completely new way of understanding movement.
Over two immersive days you’ll learn the language and organisational principles that underpin the method, leaving you with a framework you can begin applying immediately.
For many participants, the Orientation is a complete educational experience in itself.
For others, it becomes the foundation for continuing into the nine-month Practitioner Training.
-
Yes.
The Orientation has been intentionally designed as a standalone learning experience.
It provides a complete introduction to the philosophy, organisational principles and shared language of the SomaFlow Method.
If you later choose to continue, the Practitioner Training builds upon this foundation rather than repeating it.
-
No.
The Orientation is a complete educational experience in its own right.
Many participants attend simply to deepen their understanding of movement and leave feeling completely satisfied with that experience.
Others discover they want to continue into the Practitioner Training.
Continuing is always a choice, never an expectation.
-
For many participants, the SomaFlow Method Orientation is a complete learning experience in itself.
For those who wish to continue, it also serves as the prerequisite for the nine-month SomaFlow Practitioner Training, where you’ll move from learning the language of SomaFlow to creating through it.
HOW IS SOMAFLOW DIFFERENT?
-
Most movement trainings teach a method.
SomaFlow teaches a shared language for understanding movement through organisational principles.
Rather than focusing primarily on memorising exercises or sequences, you’ll learn the organisational framework that allows coherent movement to be observed, understood and created with purpose.
The result isn’t simply more knowledge.
It’s a different way of seeing.
-
No.
SomaFlow isn’t designed to replace the movement discipline you already teach.
Instead, it provides a shared language and organisational framework that can deepen your understanding of movement within your existing practice.
Many practitioners discover they return to their own method with greater clarity, confidence and creativity—not because the method has changed, but because the way they see it has.
-
No.
SomaFlow isn’t a replacement for existing movement disciplines.
It is a complementary framework that helps movement professionals understand movement through shared organisational principles.
Its purpose is to enrich your existing practice, not replace it.
-
The Orientation isn’t designed to teach a library of exercises.
It’s designed to teach the organisational principles that allow you to understand, adapt and create movement with purpose.
Exercises are important.
Understanding how movement is organised gives those exercises meaning.

THE PRACTITIONER PATHWAY
-
The SomaFlow Method Orientation is the first step in the SomaFlow Training Pathway.
For many participants, the Orientation is a complete learning experience in itself.
For those who wish to continue, it also serves as the prerequisite for the nine-month SomaFlow Practitioner Training, where the focus shifts from learning the language of SomaFlow to creating through it.
-
The Practitioner Training is designed for those who want to continue their SomaFlow journey beyond the Orientation.
While the Orientation introduces the Eight Arcs through the founder’s Core Expressions and Core Sequences, the Practitioner Training develops your ability to think, observe and create through the same shared language.
Over nine months, you’ll deepen your understanding of the organisational principles, develop a library of your own original Core Expressions, compose your own Core Sequences, and learn to create coherent classes through the SomaFlow lens.
The goal isn’t to teach you more of the founder’s work.
It’s to help you discover your own.
-
Once you’ve successfully completed the SomaFlow Method Orientation, you’re eligible to enrol in the next available Practitioner Training cohort.
Information about upcoming intakes is available on our website, allowing you to explore the full pathway and plan your journey ahead.
