SomaFlow™ Method Orientation
Learn the Language
The SomaFlow Method Orientation is the entry point into the SomaFlow learning pathway.
Designed for movement professionals and anatomy-trained practitioners, this immersive two-day training introduces the foundational principles, developmental framework, and teaching philosophy that underpin the SomaFlow Method.
Rather than teaching a collection of exercises, SomaFlow teaches a way of understanding movement.
Participants learn to view movement through capacities rather than positions, relationships rather than corrections, and development rather than performance.
SomaFlow is not a script.
It is a language.
A language that can be spoken through yoga, Pilates, strength training, rehabilitation, somatics, bodywork, coaching, and countless other movement environments.
By the end of the Orientation, participants will understand the foundational language of SomaFlow and begin exploring how it can inform their own movement practice and teaching.
Who Is This Training For?
This training is designed for:
Yoga teachers
Pilates instructors
Personal trainers
Movement educators
Somatic practitioners
Rehabilitation professionals
Allied health professionals with movement experience
Anatomy-trained practitioners seeking a deeper understanding of movement
No prior SomaFlow experience is required.
Training Purpose
The purpose of the SomaFlow Method Orientation is to introduce movement professionals to the foundational language of the SomaFlow Method.
Participants are introduced to:
The Eight SomaFlow Arcs
The Developmental Helix
SomaFlow Core Expressions
Capacity-Based Observation
Curiosity-Based Teaching
Foundational SomaFlow Class Design
Through a combination of theory, movement exploration, observation, discussion, and practical application, participants learn to view movement through the SomaFlow lens and begin speaking the language of SomaFlow.
SomaFlow recognises that every practitioner brings their own experiences, skills, personality, and movement background to the method.
A yoga teacher will express SomaFlow differently from a Pilates instructor.
A personal trainer will express SomaFlow differently from a somatic practitioner.
This diversity is not viewed as a limitation.
It is viewed as a strength.
SomaFlow provides the language.
The individual provides the voice.
The purpose of Orientation is not to create identical teachers.
The purpose is to help participants begin speaking the language of SomaFlow.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the SomaFlow Method Orientation, participants will be able to:
Understand the core philosophy and principles of the SomaFlow Method
Explain the Eight SomaFlow Arcs and their role within movement and development
Understand the Developmental Helix as a framework for movement observation
Facilitate SomaFlow Core Expressions
Observe movement through the SomaFlow lens rather than through exercises alone
Identify capacity-based themes within movement environments
Apply curiosity-based teaching principles within their existing scope of practice
Integrate SomaFlow principles into their existing movement practice and teaching
Facilitate foundational SomaFlow experiences within their existing scope of practice
Participants leave with a practical understanding of the SomaFlow framework, a foundational SomaFlow vocabulary, and the ability to begin speaking the language of SomaFlow through movement.
Graduates are able to facilitate foundational SomaFlow experiences using the SomaFlow Core Expressions and integrate SomaFlow principles within their existing scope of practice.
For many practitioners, Orientation will immediately influence the way they observe, teach, sequence, and communicate movement.
For those wishing to explore the method more deeply, the SomaFlow Practitioner Pathway provides an opportunity to develop fluency within the language, create original expressions, and discover their own authentic voice within the method.

SomaFlow Core Expressions
The Foundational Vocabulary of the Method
The SomaFlow Core Expressions are the shared vocabulary of SomaFlow.
They are a collection of foundational movement explorations that introduce the key principles, capacities, and relationships that underpin the method.
Rather than teaching a fixed set of exercises, the Core Expressions provide practical experiences through which participants can explore the SomaFlow Arcs and Developmental Helix directly.
Each Core Expression has been selected because it reveals something fundamental about how the body learns, organises, adapts, and develops.
The purpose of a Core Expression is not to achieve a particular shape.
The purpose is to create an environment in which learning can occur.
Just as language begins with vocabulary, SomaFlow begins with Core Expressions.
They provide the shared foundation from which deeper understanding can emerge.
A Language, Not a Script
Most movement education gives instructors a script.
SomaFlow gives them a language.
A script asks for replication.
A language allows expression.
Orientation does not teach participants what to think, what to teach, or how to sound.
It introduces a framework through which they can begin exploring movement in their own way.
The goal is not uniformity.
The goal is fluency.
The goal is not to create identical teachers.
The goal is to create practitioners who understand movement deeply enough to express it authentically.
SomaFlow provides the language.
The individual provides the voice.
