SomaFlow™ Practitioner Training
Learn the language. Then create with it.
Most movement trainings teach you what to teach.
The SomaFlow Practitioner Training teaches you how to think.
Over nine months, practitioners move beyond learning the SomaFlow Method and begin developing something far more valuable:
Their own way of seeing.
Their own way of composing.
Their own authentic voice.
This is not simply an advanced certification.
It is an apprenticeship in movement composition.
Orientation introduces the language.
Practitioner Training teaches you to create with it.
Using the Eight Arcs, the Developmental Helix, and the SomaFlow Lens, practitioners begin recognising possibilities within movement that were previously invisible.
Every movement becomes richer.
Every class becomes more intentional.
Every observation becomes an opportunity to explore capacity.
By the end of the pathway, practitioners are no longer asking:
“Which exercise should I teach?”
They begin asking:
“What capacity am I inviting people to explore?”
That single shift changes everything.
A Different Kind of Practitioner Training
Most professional trainings measure success by how accurately participants reproduce what they were shown.
SomaFlow measures something different.
Can you observe?
Can you think?
Can you compose?
Can you create learning environments that help people discover more movement capacity within themselves?
Because that is ultimately what great teaching is.
Not replication.
Composition.
Participants begin facilitating foundational SomaFlow experiences immediately following Orientation.
They begin teaching.
Observing.
Experimenting.
Reflecting.
Questioning.
Creating.
Each immersion expands both understanding and creative possibility.
Between immersions, practitioners return to their own communities where the real learning begins.
Studios.
Yoga rooms.
Treatment clinics.
Community spaces.
Gyms.
Rehabilitation settings.
And within their own bodies.
The training provides the framework.
Life provides the laboratory.
What You Will Learn
Throughout the Practitioner Training you will learn to:
• Observe movement through the SomaFlow Lens.
• Recognise movement capacities that already exist within any movement.
• Design classes around capacity rather than exercises.
• Compose original movement conversations.
• Adapt movement intelligently for different people and environments.
• Develop original SomaFlow Expressions.
• Facilitate learning rather than simply instruct movement.
• Develop an authentic teaching voice grounded in curiosity rather than correction.
Training Structure
The Practitioner Training is delivered over approximately nine months through four immersive four-day training experiences.
Between immersions, participants return to their own communities and movement environments for periods of field exploration and integration.
Throughout the pathway, participants maintain a personal SomaFlow Field Journal.
This journal becomes a living record of observations, questions, experiments, discoveries, movement explorations, and emerging insights.
Each immersion builds upon the last.
Learning follows the same developmental principles that underpin the SomaFlow Method itself.
Participants do not simply study the Developmental Helix.
They experience it.
Immersion One
Foundation
Organisation Reveals Support
The first immersion deepens the participant’s understanding of the foundational architecture of the SomaFlow Method.
The focus is observation.
Participants learn to see movement through the SomaFlow lens with greater depth and precision.
Areas of exploration include:
The SomaFlow Coordinate System
The Pelvic Triangle
Pressure and Support
Arc Observation
Arc Expressions
Foundation Environments
Relationship-Based Movement
The Body as an Intelligent System
Following the immersion, participants begin their first period of field exploration.
The focus is observation rather than intervention.
Learning to see becomes the practice.
Immersion Two
Integration
Support Enables Distribution
The second immersion explores how capacities communicate and organise throughout the system.
Participants begin understanding relationships rather than isolated components.
Areas of exploration include:
Open-Loop Support
Closed-Loop Support
Communication Arc
Reorganisation Arc
Capacity Distribution
Integration Environments
Curiosity-Based Teaching
The SomaFlow Teaching Sequence
Participants begin creating intentional learning environments rather than simply selecting exercises.
Following the immersion, participants continue field exploration, observation, experimentation, and journalling within their own movement environments.
Immersion Three
Functional
Participation Creates Freedom
The third immersion explores adaptability, resilience, and participation within changing environments.
Participants begin working with complexity.
Areas of exploration include:
Adaptability Arc
Resilience Arc
Functional Environments
Developmental Programming
Challenge as Information
Capacity Under Load
Capacity Under Change
Fractal Class Design
Participants begin developing their own movement expressions and class structures through the SomaFlow framework.
Following the immersion, participants enter their final period of field exploration and creative development.
Immersion Four
Return
Create Poetry With The Language
The final immersion is devoted to creativity, experimentation, collaboration, and expression.
Participants spend four days immersed in the process of creating through the language of SomaFlow.
They explore:
Original Arc Expressions
Original Movement Explorations
Developmental Class Design
Teaching Environments
Observation Processes
Movement Conversations
Facilitation Through the SomaFlow Lens
This is not a traditional assessment immersion.
It is a creative laboratory.
A gathering of practitioners who have spent nine months developing fluency and are now exploring what becomes possible through the language.
The focus is no longer learning the method.
The focus is expressing it.
The SomaFlow Field Journal
Throughout the pathway, practitioners maintain a SomaFlow Field Journal.
This journal serves as a record of their developmental journey.
Participants are encouraged to document:
Observations
Questions
Experiments
Insights
Movement Explorations
Class Ideas
Original Expressions
Teaching Experiences
Reflections
There is no prescribed format.
Some practitioners may write.
Some may draw.
Some may record voice notes.
Some may create diagrams.
The purpose is not perfection.
The purpose is curiosity.
Assessment
Assessment is completed following the final immersion.
Participants submit a Practitioner Portfolio demonstrating their understanding and application of the SomaFlow Method.
The portfolio includes:
SomaFlow Field Journal
Evidence of observation, experimentation, reflection, and development throughout the nine-month pathway.
Original SomaFlow Expressions
A collection of original movement expressions developed through the practitioner’s exploration of the method.
Three Original Class Conversations
Three original SomaFlow-informed class structures demonstrating an understanding of:
The Eight SomaFlow Arcs
The Developmental Helix
Capacity-Based Observation
Developmental Class Design
Recorded Facilitation
Recorded teaching demonstrating the practitioner’s ability to facilitate movement experiences through the SomaFlow lens.
Assessment is not based upon replication.
Assessment is based upon understanding.
The question is not:
“Can you copy the method?”
The question is:
“Can you create with it?”
Outcome
Certified SomaFlow Practitioner™
Certified SomaFlow Practitioners understand the language of SomaFlow deeply enough to create through it.
They can observe through the SomaFlow lens.
They can recognise capacities and relationships within movement.
They can design original movement experiences.
They can create their own expressions.
They can facilitate developmental movement environments.
Most importantly, they have developed their own authentic voice within the language.
No two practitioners will teach exactly the same class.
No two practitioners will create exactly the same expressions.
No two practitioners will express SomaFlow in exactly the same way.
That diversity is not a limitation.
It is the purpose.
SomaFlow provides the language.
The practitioner creates the poetry.
Outcome
Certified SomaFlow Practitioner™
Develop the ability to observe, design, facilitate, and create through the SomaFlow Method.
